At the core of the ‘Posthumous World’ research project will be a new artwork provisionally entitled ‘Vigil’.. A poetic meditation on the body’s journey to rejoin the ecosphere after death, it is also a scientifically accurate visual simulation of a human body being assimilated back into the environment after burial. Based on the artists own body, it can be seen as an ecological self-portrait in the form of a durational sculpture.

This artwork will be the first scientifically based, fully animated 3D model of human decomposition.
